Military Veteran and training specialist having served in the United States Army 545th Military Police unit as well as U.S. Recruiting Command. I was awarded Army achievement and good conduct medals. I am a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy with a BS in Criminal Justice. I attended graduate school at the University of Michigan majoring in Public Administration. I am a former Probation officer with 45B district Ct in Oak Park, MI and Veteran counselor with U.S. Veteran administration medical center.
As an entrepreneur I have been a part of various small business owner initiatives such as Boots to Business Washington DC, Small business administration and Veteran Entrepreneurs program as well as a founding member of the Southeast Michigan Entrepreneurs Association. I was appointed by the city council of Southfield Michigan to the Administrative Civil Service Commission. As a Commissioner as was responsible for the following:
* Classify all positions in the classified civil service: fix rates of compensation, make rules and regulations covering all personnel transactions; approve eligibility lists based on merit principles
* Prepare amend, recommend and administer an insurance plan and a retirement plan for general system employees
* Serve as a hearing board for settlement of disputes and resolution of grievances. As a Trustee on the Southfield Employee Retirement System I was responsible for the following:
*Responsible for exercising fiduciary responsibility over the $100 million Southfield Employee Retirement System and the $20 million Retiree Health Care Benefits Plan and Trust.
* Review and approve distributions from the trust account (benefit payments and eligible expenses)* Develop policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal law.* Selection of Investment Professionals.
